Don’t Be a Fashion Victim

I was walking down the street yesterday, running errands, when I saw a beautiful young woman wearing VERY high heels. It was painfully obvious that she was having a lot of trouble walking in those shoes. Instead of looking pretty, or sexy, or whatever she was aiming at, she looked ridiculous.

As I was reflecting on the subject, composing this post in my head, two young men on the opposite side of the street were checking her out. One of them yelled “great shoes!” and they both laughed.

I felt sorry for the girl for being laughed at, and for the men for thinking it was okay to publicly humiliate another person. But most of all, I wanted to announce to the world (or at least to you):

If the shoes are pretty and make your legs look nice, but you can’t walk in them, it is NOT a good idea to buy them. Being able to walk is more important than looking pretty. As one of my commenters wisely observed a few days ago, you don’t look very attractive when you try too hard.

Vered, you know I adore you but you’re being oversensitive as usual. Anyway, I agree with your shoe advice.

That girl brought it on herself.

I agree that if you can’t walk in them, it looks silly and not sexy. A woman who can handle high heels gracefully is another story. What doesn’t work is trying something you can’t pull off.

Anyway, I’m glad I don’t have to wear ‘em.
