My vote is sad. Isn’t it somewhat tragic that a culture that espouses parenthood does such a poor job embracing the realities of parenthood? Not to mention the unrealistic ideals that it sets for women. Or was I not supposed to comment since its Wordless Wednesday?
Great post!

@ Charlie: come on, you’re a blogger, you know that comments are always welcome.
I agree - my vote is “sad” too.
@ kittilicious - I agree. And I am on my way to check out yours.
@ Chris: so true! a funny picture that captures a sad reality.

If that’s a real ad or something, I’d vote sad. If someone just created it for no real reason, I’d vote funny (I can see a mom doing this when she’s feeling down about post-baby… just to make herself laugh).
Happy WW and thanks for visiting my blog!

Its too commonly true. I’ll keep my pre and post baby body!
Thanks for stopping by my blog too. Hope to see you back.
If you can would you consider sponsoring Tristan in the the March for Babies? I have a badge on my blog on the sidebar and any amount would be greatly appreciated!

The picture is clever and funny, but the inspiration for it is sad.

Nothing to be sad about! You get an adorable baby in return of those post-baby lumps! My sister is a stay-at-home mum of a little drama queen. She’s trying hard to juggle her LLM and looking after my niece but she’s as happy as ever! The heart that loves is always young and beautiful! You may want to read more of her at http://nobodytellsme.blogspot.com
“For a mere $30,000″ err…that’s quite hefty! Those babies who feel embarrassed about the mum’s body should be punched in the face haha I wouldn’t want to do lipo. I think I’ll pass out if I see blood. :S That was one of the MAJOR reasons why I didn’t study medicine haha
But yeah, this is ridiculously funny.

It’s a funny cartoon and useful in that it points out a real problem in our society. What I find sad is that many women believe this.
Will responds:

Marsha said it perfectly.
Happy WW! Thanks for your visit and comment.

It’s sad, but too true. I worry about my daughter growing up with these unrealistic expectations.

I think it’s sad. I mean, the cartoon is very funny, but it’s sad because it’s true.

Sad, funny, and too true from some people’s perspectives.

Definitely sad.
If you think about it, when we all get to be 80, aren’t we all going to have the same signs of aging anyway?

Haha that is absolutely hilarious. I agree with previous commenters, too, that it is kind of sad. Oh the mommy body…gotta love it, because look what it did for us!
Thanks for the comment on my blog. Everything I have heard so far about Silicon Valley is great, except the cost! I cannot believe how expensive buying/renting is out there (especially in comparison to Pittsburgh).
Happy WW

@ Jen: it’s a cartoon… so that means you think it’s funny.
@ Shannon: yes, it’s a common perception!
@ Kmommy: I agree. It’s awful.
@ isabelle chin: totally agree that you get so much in return.
@ Marsha: “What I find sad is that many women believe this”. So true!
@ Will: I agree.
@ MisMeliss: “Funny for the first five seconds, then sad.” So, so true.
@ Stacey: “It’s a comical take on a sad situation”. Exactly.
@ The Salty Mooch: I have 2 daughters and I worry about them too.
@ Lilacspecs: sad.. but also a little funny?
@ In Mother Words: sad and funny – I think so too.
@ Patty: it IS true. Society sends us these messages, and many of us believe them.
@ Holly: you are going to get to 80? I sure hope I don’t.
@ praisefiddler: I think so too. A little of both.
@ Yankee mom: aren’t we all.
@ Allison: it only gets worse once you settle down here. Not trying to scare you or anything… but as ready as you think you are, the sticker shock is always there.

Embrace the good with the bad, that’s what I always say. We can’t all look like Angelina Jolie after giving birth, and (all together now…) it’s FINE.
As long as my husband and my kids think I’m the most fabulous woman in the world, that’s all that matters.
I know it’s a few days late (was out of town tee hee), but I hope you had a great WW. Thanks for stopping by and I hope to bump into you again soon. Cheers from Manila!
