A Mother’s Unconditional Love
Regardless of what you do, or what happens to you, I will always love you. There is nothing that you can do to make me stop loving you. Even if you mess up terribly, I will still be there for you.
I will always be grateful to my mom for saying this. I didn’t mess up too badly. I guess I’m a conformist. But those few little messes that did happen, proved that she had meant what she said.
Since every other relationship I can think of (spouse, partner, friends, even children) CAN end if you mess up too much, it is comforting to know that there is one person out there that will never stop loving you, no matter what.
In the photo: mother and I, January 1972.
(Let me save you the trouble and do the math for you: I am 36 years old. Almost ten years older than mom was when the photo was taken. How. Time. Flies.)

Thanks guys.
The best thing about this post: calling my mom this morning and asking her “have you seen my new post yet?”, then listening to her (and my dad’s) emotional reaction.
Love you, mom.

What nice words your mom said to you? You sure are lucky! To have that security is so important. I must remember to let my daugthers know the same too!
Thanks for sharing,
Evelyn

Wow that’s beautiful. My mom didn’t say that in word but I just feel it. I have made some messes myself and yet she is always there no matter what.
Beautiful!

@ Phyllis: Thank you.
@ Evelyn: I said it to my own daughters yesterday, and showed them this post. I plan to repeat this message many more times, as my mom did.
@ Pinay Jade: this is definitely a message that you can give your kids even without SAYING it.
