Best Shot Monday: Old, But Still Moving
Of course I had to snap a photo of this license plate.
I then yelled at my poor husband to slowly pass the car so that I could take a look at the driver.
The driver was an old man - probably in his mid seventies.
Old and feisty. I like that. I often say that I never want to make it past the age of 70 because of the inevitable physical deterioration. I know, I’m an idiot, and this license plate served as an important reminder that one can be old, spirited and funny.

Your very observant Vered. I like that you have themes for different days of the week (Best Shot Monday, Wordless Wednesday). And you know, with the medical advances that are being made every day, by the time we’re in our 70’s we’re going to feel as if we were in our 20’s (kind of like reverse aging)

I saw a bumper sticker last week that said “METAPHORS be with you.” Liked it. But then, I was an English teacher for 7 years.

@ Chris: of course I only took this picture because I have a blog! Like Pinay Jade pointed out, I am a certified blogoholic.
@ Marelisa: ha. I wish.
@ the rambling housewife: after having a few of those “wish I had my camera” moments, I just carry it with me now at all times. It’s a tiny pocket-size one, so that helps, even if it doesn’t produce the best photos, quality speaking.
@ Jill: sadly, I don’t have any control over the timing of my demise.
@ Sarah: didn’t wave… just stared.
@ dawnomite: I LOVE your license plate story! That’s hilarious!

Hi Vered,
You gotta love an old man with a sense of humor. He’ll probably live to be a hundred.
You know they say 50 is the new 30, so is 70 the new 50?
The older we get, the definition of “old” changes accordingly.

I had my last car for 18 years. I can understand all the advantadges of an old car: the burglers didn´t want it, I could recognise my car in a glance in the park, I didn´t shout with my kids when tey ate in the car, and this is an endless list

I’ve never been able to justify spending the extra $$ on a vanity tag, but there are a few in my work parking garage. One is “Deja II”, which hardly seems worth it. The only one I recall that’s really fitting is “Diva” (plus some initials)… and it’s sort of nice that she owns her diva-ness.
I always wanted something like GEEKDAD, but I’m driving a mini-van with a PHP sticker… it’s sort of a given.

@ Computer Addict: that was a FUNNY episode.
@ Barbara: “The older we get, the definition of “old” changes accordingly.” Completely agree. I am almost 37. 40 used to seem SO OLD, well not anymore.
@ Kimberly: haven’t noticed the white hair – you are very observant!
@ Shilpan: no doubt, state of mind has a lot to do with it. But physical aging is, sadly, a fact.
@ CharlesP: yup, you sound like a classic geek.

Great capture. You know, about getting old…..I have a friend who lost her Mum at 43 and she always says : “getting old is better than the alternative!” At 47, I think she’s right. My Mum and Dad are over 70 now and still themselves even with grey hair and a few aches and pains. I think when you cease to be yourself you know the time has come. Thanks for this thought provoking capture.
