    Nice one.!

I prefer our BuyLow’s gas pumps though.. Just because you can get rebates by buying there, then add five of them together and save as much as you can!
On top of that, they recently added the “15 gallon only” rule, which states that you can only get the discount on the first 15 gallons of gas that you pump. This isn’t a problem with my car, that has a six gallon tank. When you don’t use the whole 15 gallons, you get a coupon for the rest that you can use at a later date.. And it combines all of your old coupons.!

I think that the rising gas prices is a scam, and everyone should be upset! Gas prices are horrendous and they are continuing to rise and the government is doing nothing but making excuses for it and allowing it to happen.
Sure they say that they are helping us with pushing car makers to make more fuel efficient cars, they also say that they are trying to negotiate with other countries to provide us with more oil, they are also exploring the “alternative fuels.” Well that is great, for all the new cars that are coming out, but what about the non fuel efficient cars that almost all Americans have?? What about the citizens who don’t have the credit or the money to get a more expensive, fuel efficient model? What about all the cars that we have that run on “regular fuel” and not “alternative fuel?” Should we just forget that they exist? Should we use those cars as scrap metal??? I know, how about we spend thousands of dollars on changing the design of those engines to use “alternative fuels” and use our tax dollars to pay for it! Politicians are deluded if they think that these “resolutions” are going to work let alone even try to call them resolutions! Just because they have thousands of dollars and A1 credit, to get those spiffy new cars or to redo their engines in their current cars whose to say the average American does?
If any of them want my vote, they need to come up with REAL resolutions and quick! They would like to blame the rising gas prices, on the war, the fact that we rely too much on “fossil fuels” or foreign oil, they even have the gall to say that the gas prices are rising because the demand is higher and because we are using too much! How about admitting that the reason the gas prices are higher is because our dollar is weaker and because of that we have to use more to buy a barrel of oil???? That is the bottom line, and the politician that can admit that and work on that problem first will get my vote. To hell with making more cars that use less fuel, fix the damn dollar first and then talk to me about fuel efficiency.

    Hi Vered,

Yes here in South Africa we are really feeling the pinch as well. The petrol price has climbed to R10.00 a litre and the interest rates on our bonds are also going up, while our economy is going down. Especially with the horrific xenophobic attacks on the foreigners in our country from last month onwards. That poem I wrote was inspired by these xenophobic attacks. Just to you a very big thank you for your TWO comments on my blog from a comment starved first time blogger, very kind of you. Anyways I’m quite eclectic in my choice of blogs at the moment so you will be seeing some comments from me from time to time. By the way this in no way means that you have to reciprocate. Please keep on blogging.

Alik; that era of electric cars will dawn, though hybrid is not a long-term sustainable answer. But first the industries that depend on oil must die (or adapt, which is unlikely), because they’re the ones who have kept electric cars out of the average garage for many, many years. The current oil and motor industries are corrupt and deceitful ones.

Great WW! Also, we have three grocery stores in town that have gas stations as well. When you shop at the store, you get a discount on the gas. It’s something that is relatively new where I live.

I saw a special on CNN which said that in Brazil they use sugar ethanol. They’ve been preparing since the oil crisis of the 70′s and now practically all of their cars are equipped so that they can be powered by sugar ethanol and it’s in all of the gas stations. Sugar ethanol is a lot cheaper than gas and much, much better for the environment. Brazil is 100% energy independent (they have some oil reserves and the rest is sugar ethanol). Other countries just didn’t see the writing on the wall like Brazil did (or maybe the US did see the writing on the wall but the car and oil lobbyists interfered).

Not surprisingly, the trains in my Pasadena/Los Angeles area are plastered with adds about saving the cost savings of public transit. I used to be a maverick by taking the train (“Only a nobody walks in LA,” as Missing Persons reminds us). Now it’s standing-room only during rush hour.

Translation: We impose a 9 cent per gallon surcharge on credit card payments.

But they certainly worded it better!

I heard something that was very interesting, but I’m not sure about the exact details. It was something like if the U.S. had the same fuel economy standards that they have in Europe (or maybe it was what they’re working towards in Europe), meaning 45 mpg, we wouldn’t have to import any oil at all. It can’t be that hard to get there. My 2003 Corolla averaged 48 mpg on a trip from New Jersey to Virginia.

    Vered–

The Shell station around our house is offering the lowest price but of course you need to get a carwash to get a discount and it was written so small that I missed it even with my 20/20 vision. Needless to say, I was had.

Gas stations in Singapore offer discounts, on top of loyalty programs as well. The thing is that discounts are on throughout the whole year; making me wonder if the discounts are real. But if a gas station should stop offering one, I will stop going to do it….so yes, in an indirect way, I must say that its ad is working…LOL!!

Just got back from the UK where I filled my sisters car up and it cost me about $90! The gap is narrowing to the US quickly though.

There’s no conspiracy other than the fact OPEC can make lots of money from knowing that emerging nations like China and India are needing more and more oil to satisfy their needs and they can drive prices up.

It’s not going to get much better any time soon and if I wasn’t an upbeat happy-go-lucky life coach I’d use the phrase worldwide recession coming head for the hills. You’ll have to walk though because there’s no fuel.
