There is nothing wrong with monetizing your blog. I am trying my best to do it. Leo should take advantage of his popularity. However, despite monetizing his blog, he should strive to continue creating great content. If I were an avid reader of his and every successive post becomes a sales pitch, I would surely be mad.

@ W: One of Leo's problems is indeed not being upfront about it. I think he has since learned his lesson though.

I know this post is old but I wanted to have my say. I don't mind Leo leveraging his popularity to make money. It does bother me that he's lying about it. He didn't bother mentioning in his post that he is getting a commission from the book sales. He made it sound like he just liked it and was recommending it for that reason. That's dishonest. Considering Leo is someone who talks A LOT about honesty this was extremely hypocritical of him, in my opinion.

[...] Making money or wanting to make money from your blog is your prerogative. Get over the “good girl” mentality and be proud of your talent, of your networking abilities, of the wonderful, thriving business that you have started from scratch and are building with your own hands. I enjoyed reading another prominent mommy blogger - Don Mills Diva’s - recent post “Show Me The Money”. Don Mills Diva does NOT apologize for aspiring to make money from her blog. I couldn’t agree with her more. [...]
