I Need Your Support Today

I published a guest post over at Zen Habits: How To Be A Great Mom – 12 Awesome Tips.
Needless to say, I am excited, but since Leo usually doesn’t moderate his comments, I’m also a little scared of his trolls.
Would you guys do me a favor and go over there to show your support in the comments section?
Thank you!

It’s brilliant to see you over at Zen Habits!
Excellent advice on being a fab mom, Vered. You’re all that- and then some
It must be a little like being a juggler, having to balance all the conflicting demands made on you. I hope you manage to grab some “Vered” time every so often… that’s important too, for both yourself and your kids.
I bet you’re a groovy kinda mom to your kids!

Hi Scott,
Thank you so much! It is a juggling act for sure. Am I a groovy mom? I don’t know… perhaps, but in a few years, say it to my kids and they will just roll their eyes. Parenting is a thankless job.
It’s almost 11pm here and I am trying to curb my excitement over this guest post and GET SOME SLEEP.

Hi Vered, I’m blogging the night away, so I saw zen habits before I came here tonight – how exciting to guest post there!
You’re right, there are some “trolls” in the comments sometimes, but they’re in the minority by far, and I think some of them have issues with Leo in particular, so fear not!

Hi Vered,
I don’t think you need to be told, but all of your loyal readers have your back. If the trolls show up, let us know and we’ll go back to ZenHabits and defend you.
Your post was fabulous. Your children are very fortunate to have a mom who has such high values. When they grow up, they’ll make you proud.

Oh, and I’m subscribed to comments with the Zen Habits article. You know, in case of trolls. I’m sure I’m not the only one as well

Great post on Zen Habits. As I am not yet a mom myself, a link was sent immediately to a friend who became a mom last week.
I must also comment regarding yesterday’s post. I keep thinking about how come you are such a “foody”, a mom and still have a perfect body without an ounce of fat in it. I am intrigued and in awe

Great post and I’m glad I was able to find your blog. I appreciate refreshing voices from women who have the passion to help other women deal with life….and who also realize that “helping” doesn’t mean being the expert or having all the answers. The mission (dream) of my blog is to help women (especially moms) balance the demands of being everything to everyone while not losing their sense of self, their needs, and their passions in the process. I also quickly realized that I’d rather ask the questions and explore the world of practicing the art of life balance with my readers instead of acting as the expert. Again, it’s refreshing to know there are other women out on the blogosphere talking about motherhood, life, and sometimes even simple survival.

I will have to get some Barcelona tips from you sometime. It is on my wish list of places to go. All good wishes. ( That is an adorable raggamuffin in your arms too. Love the photo.)

Great post! I am a mom as well (only one little guy here!) and it’s nice to see other young moms who share similar values as me and reaffirm that I am some-what on the right track
.
As others say, never mind those negative people. This is a place for help and sharing of positive things, and anyone who wants to add negativity instead of just moving on has issues. Please keep writing and know we are eager to hear your side of things.

@ Ann: Thank you so much for your support!
@ Barbara: Thank you!
As for my kids, I expect lots of whining during their teens but then hopefully they will see that I did my best.
@ Marelisa: Thank you!
@ Al: Thanks… I really do appreciate it.
@ Avital: Well… I workout regularly and have a lot of muscle, which I guess helps. Also, on a daily basis I don’t think I eat a lot – in fact I often forget to eat. I’m not too interested in “regular” food, but I get all excited about new and different tastes and I LOVE to eat out. I guess it all balances out.
@ MizFit: THANK YOU!!!
@ Zendad: Thank you. I love your blog too and have subscribed.
@ Stacey: We think the same. Good luck with your organizing efforts!
@ Dot H.: Thank you so much. I think I will post a link to the article here.
@ Suzie: Thanks smooch.
@ Joel: THANKS. Loved today’s posts, by the way – on your own blog and the guest post.
@ MarciB: You’re very welcome.
@ Ryan: “Working the comments” sounds so calculated! But thank you.
@ Jan: Thank you. Barcelona WAS awesome. You should definitely add it to your list.
@ Dani: Great to hear from a fellow mom! It’s hard work, isn’t it? Thank you so much for the support.
@ Urban Panther: THANK YOU. It’s true… there will always be negativity. I guess I feel “safe” over here in my own little corner of the Internet, but Leo’s blog has so much more exposure that there’s something scary (and of course exciting!) about appearing there.
@ Christina: Thanks!

Just got back from reading your post… Congratulations! You’re a fab mom with excellent advice to give! It’s easy to make mistakes and feel guilty about them..so your them on “being good to yourself” is a timely reminder.
I’m not a parent but I have a younger brother and my mother’s always asking me, “am I doing ok? What can I do better?” She’s doing a great job! She just needs a reminder every so often and she also needs to ditch the guilt.
Anyway, great job!

Excllent article! Loved the part:
“Be their mom, not their friend. Set limits. In a way, it was easy for previous generations. Parents were parents. Kids were kids. Families were patriarchal. Everyone listened and obeyed to the father. Now, families are democratic. We negotiate, talk things over, and listen to each other. We make important decisions together. This is great, but kids still need us to be their parents and set clear limits. ”
So very very VERY true.
Enjoy, Barbara

Hi Vered,
I am a frequent visitor at Zen Habits and now I have found you! Wonderful.
Its an excellent post, I will print it out and refer to it. So many wonderful points.
I am a big fan of the First Things First book by Stephen Covey and I ensure that each week I tune into my kiddies, 2 YO and 6 YO. They love when we do stuff, scooter riding (we bought one for my 6YO and one for an adult). She loves racing me, and we have so much fun together. Its the simple things, not the big overt loud stuff that adults need to have fun.
You go girl. Great work.
Sara

@ Cath: THANKS!
@ Lisa: Glad you like my blog. Thank you so much.
@ Sara: I will check out First Things First by Stephen Covey. Sounds interesting. Thank you very much for visiting, and for comment.
@ Sarah: It is cool, isn’t it?
Thank you!

@ David: Thank you. My main concern was that I think many readers are frustrated when they find out that a new post on ZH was written by a guest. They look forward to new material from Leo himself. On the other hand, Leo himself does have his very own trolls that enjoy attacking him personally. Anyway, it ended up being a great experience.
@ Linda: Thank you! You are so sweet. I can’t say that being on the cover of Vogue is a goal of mine
but it IS nice to be recognized by other bloggers.

Haven’t seen any trolls while scanning the comments section and with good reason. People will troll if they do not like you, and to borrow a Seinfeld quote,” How can anybody not like you?”
