And The Winner Is…

Posted November 14th, 2008 by MomGrind

beauty-queenThank you everyone for helping me find a new tagline. You really are awesome and so much more creative than I will ever be. (But thank you Mike of Exit 78 for saying that I’m creative too :) ).

I love all the tag lines you suggested, but my favorites are, in no particular order (I’m not announcing the winner just yet!):

1. MomGrind – Life beyond the spin cycle (by Sal of Everyday Thoughts From Life).

2. MomGrind – Ground to Perfection (by Lance of The Jungle Of Life).

3. MomGrind – Mommyblogger 2.0 (by Kari Rippetoe of The Caffeinated Blog).

4. MomGrind  – Normal is just a setting on the dryer (by Lori of SpaceAgeSage).

I am also highly amused by these:

1. MomGrind – A keyword-stuffed blog purely designed to maximize AdSense revenue
MomGrind – Tagline-free since 2008
(Both by Hunter Nuttall).

2. Betsy of Passing Thru‘s “mom phrases” (some which I say more often than I care to admit).

3. Mom Grind: Sass with Class (by Tom Volkar of Delightful Work).

4. MomGrind – More Than Just A Good A** ( by Cath Lawson).

Oh, and Kim Woodbridge: you said “I did look up ‘grind’ in an online dictionary thinking that would spark some ideas. LMAO at this one – “to rotate the hips in an erotic manner.” Ha. Yes. A friend did warn me when I picked this name for my blog. He said that people looking for porn would land here all the time and I was like, what are you talking about YOU DIRTY OLD MAN.

Well, after writing this blog for 8 months, I have to admit that yes, people looking for porn do land here. Although to judge by the bounce rate of keywords such as “moms grinding” and “naked moms”, they don’t stay for too long. :)

OK. It’s time.

The winner is…

Lance with “Ground To Perfection!”

Lance will receive a $50 Starbucks gift card. Lance, I’ll email you. :)

However, I need to let you know that after a week of a tagline-free look, I have come to really like the simplicity so will not use the new tagline for now. Once I’m tired of the ultra clean look, which no doubt will happen, because I do tire of things, I’ll use it.

Thanks again everyone. You are awesome.

Thanks for the mention :-) I guess I was surprised by that definition because I don’t think of grind that way. I think of coffee first and then “the daily grind”. I really like the one you chose. Congrats to Lance.

Wow! Thank you Vered!! I’m honored you chose “Ground to Perfection” – and I think it fits you perfectly! You’re awesome! And so were all the choices here – so many creative minds!!

Yay, Lance! Congratulations! This was such a fun exercise, Vered, and everyone had such great ideas. I think we should all rotate our hips in an erotic manner just for Lance, now! :)

Hi Vered – I think you’re creative too. But I’m glad you chose Lance’s tagline – it’s excellent. And I’m really glad you didn’t choose mine – I think it would have attracted all kinds of weirdo’s to your blog. Thanks for the link.

    Wow, Lance, Congrats!!!!
That was indeed very creative of you Vered. It must have been really interesting for you to see how we all see you ….barring the “grinding” ones, of course.

This was very much fun game, Vered, Thank you!

Congratulations Lance! So does he get a tiara along with the Starbucks coffee card? Because I’d pay good money to see Lance wearing a tiara :-)

  17. Sal responds:

@Marelisa: I second that motion. And he needs to be giving a thumbs up like in the picture at the top!

I want to thank all of your commenters Vered, because I just loved coming to your post and reading all the ideas that just poured onto the page….Wow that was amazing…and I like your choices – both – to stay tag less and then to use it when you are ready.

How did you ever make a choice?

Thank you for all the fun ideas!

  19. Lance responds:
    Posted: November 14th, 2008 at 4:57 pm

@Marelisa – re: the tiara — if I end up getting a tiara in the mail…grr…I’ll post a picture!! (that should scare you away!!)…

@Sal – Don’t encourage her! Geez, the next thing I’ll have is a little black dress to go along with the getup…

@Vered – Hmm, excellent idea (according to who??) – Marelisa? there you go encouraging her!

@Betsy – ok, you get everyone to do this grind, and I’ll wear the tiara (and do the thumbs up)…. hey, if one of us is going to make a fool of themselves, everyone might as well – right?

@Everyone – thanks, this was a fun contest – so much creativity and many fun choices!

Those are all great taglines that you’ve shared. Funny commentary on one of the definitions of, “grind.” Made me laugh.

Congratulations Lance. I do like the tagline you came up with – it has a great ring to it.

I missed the part about Lance wearing lipstick…should I just not ask?

How about a sub-tagline to get rid of the wrong crowd:

MomGrind – Ground to Perfection (but no rotating hips)

Congratulations to Lance and I wish “Life Beyond the Spin Cycle” suited my blog because I’d be begging to use it! ‘m still trying to come up with a tagline I’m happy with.

I like the simple no-tagline look of the blog too, Vered. I think you can get away with it because MomGrind does indicate this is targeted at women, though of course we know there are plenty of cool men who get it too :)
