I have to say spending this last year working at both a children's store and a maternity store I've seen some pretty bad kids clothing. I've watched a lot of dads to be try to talk their wives or girlfriends into buying onsies that say, "boob man" or "If you think I'm cute you should see my daddy", and at the children's store I had a woman who returned a pair of 50 dollar skinny jeans because her 2 year olds thighs were "too fat." I also recently got to listen to a woman in a change room with a 4 year old daughter talk about how chubby she is for half an hour. So many kids clothes are horribly gendered, adult, and inappropriate. I might come off as a prude but I do find "boob man" and "milk junkie" onsies inappropriate and I am offended that companies make skinny jeans for toddlers (also that the Guess ones which were returned are cut like they're for an adult, the legs have no room for the child to have those cute round legs that almost all 2 year olds do, and are about 3 inches longer than a regular size 2. Also rhinestones on the butt pockets- really?)

@ Amy: I don't think it's obscenity or pornography. I do think it's in very bad taste and totally inappropriate. "If you don’t like it, don’t buy it." - exactly.

First Amendment Rights. Whether you like it or not, it doesn't matter. Free Speech is just that. It's not "free speech". If you don't like it, don't buy it. And while individual states as well as the federal government are permitted to restrict obscenity or pornography, I don't find this to be either. It's just something someone does and sells to make money and generate a reaction from those who find it offensive.

@ Amy Holding: “The “my mom is hot” shirt is just wrong on so many levels.” I agree!

@ The Lawyer Mom: Ewww, that IS vulgar!

@ Real Julie: “I do not want to dress a 6 year old and promote him/her as a sex object!” I completely agree.

@ Cath Lawson: I agree that the “My Mom Is Hot” is especially disturbing.

@ Dayflyer: “I’m guessing they don’t always understand the sentiments they’re displaying, but it definitely doesn’t make it any better.” – I agree, and personally I think people of any age shouldn’t wear messages they don’t even understand.

I too am uncomfortable with this type of clothing on children.

I had a similar feeling years ago when I watched a child of around 8 singing along to a song called 'Sex on the Beach' (I think). Hopefully she didn't understand the lyrics, but at 8 surely she should be some way from ideas like this.

Here in Greece I see teens walking around in T shirts with various innuendo laden messages in English. I'm guessing they don't always understand the sentiments they're displaying, but it definitely doesn't make it any better.

Hi Vered - They are awful. I would never dress my kids in any of these. I'm guessing desperate single (or maybe even married) mothers might put their children in the "My Mom Is Hot" one.
