Are Bloggers Allowed To Have A Life?

It was obvious to me, right from the start, that blogging is highly addictive. When I read about bloggers who put in 70 hours per week, work so hard that they forget to drink, and sometimes even drop dead, I promised myself that “real life” would always come first.

When Two Bloggers Write an Almost-Identical Post

Something weird happened yesterday.

Charlie Gilkey left a comment on my post “The Blurry Line Between Online and Real-Life Relationships”, which made it clear that he had written a VERY similar post about the same subject - from a slightly different angle - a few weeks ago.

The Blurry Line Between Online and Real-Life Relationships

Which friendships are more important to you? Your real-life ones or your online friendships? Do you see a difference at all?

I used to consider my real-life friends as “real friends”, while online relationships seemed more, well, virtual, and since they were less “real” to me, I didn’t put as much value on them. But this blog, and the relationships I am gradually forming through it, is making me rethink my initial attitude towards online friendships.

Could MomGrind Use A Little Profanity?

Posted June 13th, 2008 by MomGrind

How do you feel about profanity?

I sometimes THINK profanity, but I can never SAY it, let alone WRITE it. In fact, profanity makes me so uncomfortable, that when a regular reader of this blog, that I happen to really like, used mild profanity in a recent comment, I emailed him and asked for his permission to edit his comment and remove the offensive part.

The Sleazy Ads of Google Adsense

I knew there were some pretty bad Google Adsense ads on my site, but I didn’t do anything about it.

The wake-up call came when Dawn made fun of my Buy Organic post, which made her reader Jessica check out my blog and comment that the “Asian Girls” ads are offensive. When I read Jessica’s comment, I finally came to my senses and decided to use the Adsense filter tool to block out the worst offenders.

Blogging: Not All Comments Are Welcome

The best thing about blogging is interacting with readers and with other bloggers. After all, blogging is about having a discussion, not about lecturing. One of the best ways to have that discussion is the comments section. Comments are what make blogs into the lively, vibrant places they are, places where people talk and exchange ideas and sometimes even argue - respectfully.

Bloggers Unite for Human Rights: Homelessness

Posted May 15th, 2008 by MomGrind

homeless.JPG A homeless man has stationed himself right next to the local Whole Foods store, where I do my weekly grocery shopping. He has an ever-changing display of signs, where he explains how he got to be homeless and asks people for any kind of help - even a can of beans. When it gets sweltering hot, or very cold outside, he disappears, and I always wonder where he is and hope that he was able to find a warm, clean shelter.

MomGrind has a new tagline.

After Friday’s little discussion, it occurred to me that just like Denise, I love mommybloggers, and want to be a mommyblogger, but there’s a strong possibility that I don’t know HOW to be a mommyblogger.
